Machine Operator

Job Title:   Machine Operator
Department:  Molding
Reports To:  Lead Operator

Machine Operator Summary of Duties:

The Machine Operator operates a plastic injection molding machine which may run either Automatic or Semi-Automatic jobs. The operator may load inserts in the molds for over molding. An operator inspects parts for quality, trims excess material from parts, and sorts parts if needed. Also, the operator packages finished parts according to customer requirements.

Machine Operator Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates plastic injection molding machines.
  • Ensures machines are producing quality parts at expected production rates.
  • Inspects parts for quality and communicates with Leads and Techs on any quality issues.
  • Trims, sorts, and packages parts to meet customer specifications.
  • Standing or sitting for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Ensures parts are labeled properly with correct information including part name, material lot numbers, and quantity according to work order.
  • Lifting boxes up to 50lbs in weight.
  • Completes a daily production log to record good parts produced, bad parts, as well as any downtime on machines.
  • Communicates to oncoming shift operator on status of work order, how the machine is running, and any new quality alerts.
  • Clean-up of workstation to ensure a safe workspace for next operator.
  • Ability to read and write English to complete daily production logs.
  • Basic addition and subtraction to understand recording of good and bad parts.
  • Ability to identify problems with how a machine is running and ability to communicate any issues to leads and or technicians.
  • Other duties as assigned

Set-up Technician

1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift positions available

Job Title:     Set-up Technician
Department:    Production
Reports To:    Process Engineer

Set-up Technician Summary of Duties:

The Set-up Technician is tasked with the day to day operation and upkeep of all molding machines.  This position will communicate with the Process Engineer and Process Technicians to ensure that all molding machines are set-up and ready to run in accordance with the schedule. The set-up technician will also be responsible for the proper tagging, identification, and storage of all plastic injection molds.

Set-up Technician Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience as a Set-up Technician in Plastic Injection Molding
  • Ability to analyze data
  • Documentation Skills
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret technical procedures and instructions
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Good dexterity in both hands and good hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to push, pull, and stoop
  • Ability to stand and walk for 8 hours a day
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and ability to drive stand-up fork lifts
  • Processing abilities a plus

Set-up Technician Job Duties:

  • Tear down and line clearance of mold and support equipment. Cleaning mold surfaces and platens, as well as cleaning the work area and molding machine. Mold identity/shot count tags to be filled out and maintained.
  • Set-up of molding machine to be production ready. This includes all fixturing needed for the current job.
  • Daily mold maintenance. i.e. greasing leader pins and tie bars, cleaning mold faces and vents as well as documentation of these actions.
  • Work with tooling, scheduling, management team and process engineer to ensure the best turnaround time on mold changes and start-ups.
  • Attend shift change meetings with information for the next shift on occurrences and what needs to happen.
  • Startup of machines utilizing the process parameters contained in the Job Book and submit start-up samples to Quality Control.
  • Documentation of process changes.
  • Completion of “production report” of daily tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

3rd Shift Quality Control Inspector

Job Title:          Quality Control Inspector
Department:    Quality Control
Reports To:      Quality Control Manager

Quality Control Inspector II Summary of Duties:

The Quality Inspector II is responsible for daily inspection of product produced within the facility, recording of inspections, inspection of items received from outside vendors, and communication with the Quality Inspector III and Quality Manager on discrepant parts so internal production can be improved to ensure a quality product is being delivered.

Quality Inspector II Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in a quality role or any combination of experience and education
  • Ability to analyze data
  • Documentation Skills
  • Ability to read and discern blueprints
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Good dexterity in both hands and good hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to push, pull, and stoop
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk for up to 8 hours a day
  • Must have basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • In addition to proficiency with calipers, micrometers and gauge pins, must demonstrate proficiency with Visual CMM (MicroVu), Tesa Height Gauge, and Optical Comparator.
  • Working knowledge of basic programming techniques for quality equipment.

Quality Inspector II Job Duties:

  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests with calipers, micrometers, gage pins, height gauge, etc.
  • Approves all In-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests with calipers, micrometers, gage pins, height gauge, etc.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests with calipers, micrometers, gage pins, height gauge, etc.; returning products for re-work as necessary, confirming re-work
  • Documenting inspection results
  • After approval of start-up inspection, ensures that all samples and paperwork are filed under correct customer and part number in accordance with QMS.
  • Keeps measuring equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Accomplishes quality and organizational mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Perform annual inspection of equipment calibrated in-house.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T.
  • Perform Cpk Studies and complete Cpk documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
